THE HOLY FATHER'S LAST ADDRESS

Image
Vatican City, 27 February 2013 (VIS) –
Today, Benedict XVI celebrated his last general audience. In St. Peter's Square, crowded with tens of thousands of people wishing to bid him farewell, the Pontiff said: “Thank you for coming in such large numbers to this, my last general audience. Thank you, I am truly moved! And I see the Church is alive! I think we also have to thank the Creator for the beautiful weather that He is giving us now, even in winter.”
Following is the entire text of the Holy Father's words.
“Like the Apostle Paul in the Biblical text that we have heard, I feel in my heart that I have to especially thank God who guides and builds up the Church, who plants His Word and thus nourishes the faith in His People. At this moment my heart expands and embraces the whole Church throughout the world and I thank God for the 'news' that, in these years of my Petrine ministry, I have received about the faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and for the love that truly circul…

THANK YOU POPE BENEDICT - HOLINESS

Image
The manifest holiness of Pope Benedict perfectly accords with every other characteristic of the man, his meek and humble spirit, his serene presence, his composure , his insight in spiritual matters and his love of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. Thank you Holy Father for being an example and inspiration  to us all.

THANK YOU POPE BENEDICT - DELIBERATE

Image
Thank you Holy Father for your disciplined, considered and deliberate actions in announcing the Truth : here, wearing the Stole of Pope Leo XIII ( who declared Anglican Orders " Null and void" when meeting the Anglicans in Westminster Abbey ( stolen from Christ's Church at the time of the Protestant Deformation), and again telling the truth at Regensburg and being reviled for it by Muslims, and again requiring those receiving Holy Communion from your hands to kneel before the Blessed Sacrament and receive on the tongue. We praise and thank you.

THANK YOU POPE BENEDICT - SERENE

Image
Thank you Pope Benedict XVI for your serene presence as Servant of the Servants of God, in the face of a corrupt and cynical world, staunchly defending Christ's Truth.

THANK YOU POPE BENEDICT XVI "MEEK AND HUMBLE OF HEART"

We, Christ's Faithful thank you Holy Father, because like Our Lord Himself, you have shown us what it is to be " meek and humble of heart".

WHAT HAVE WE GOT HERE??

Image
Please take the time to read this carefully and fully, so that you might begin to understand the nature of a person teaching heresy in Broken Bay Diocese :

" From a Reflection by Father..... published 10 th April, 2011

....." Never be deluded into thinking that if you have contrition, if you are sorry for your sins, God will come and forgive you - that he will be touched by your appeal, change his mind about you and forgive you. Not a bit of it. God never changes his mind about you.He is simply in love with you. What he does again and again is change your mind about him. That is why you are sorry. That is what your forgiveness is. You are not forgiven because you confess your sin. You confess your sins; recognize yourself for what you are, because you are forgiven.

When you come to confession, to make a ritual proclamation of your sin, to symbolize that you know what you are, you are not coming to have your sins forgiven. You don't come to confession in order to have your s…

IN ONE WEEK

Image
SEVEN DAYS HENCE at this moment 0600 Australian Eastern Summer Time on Friday 1st March, 2013, it will be 2000 on 28th February, 2013 in Rome and Pope Benedict XVI will cease to be Pope.

Gentle, " meek and humble of heart "(Matt 11:29),serene, deliberate, highly intelligent, truly scholarly - when shall we see his like again? And, without doubt, truly holy. Indeed a saintly presence in our midst.

Great gift of God to this crude and corrupt age, Pope Benedict XVI has taken the command of the Barque of Saint Peter as Blessed Pope John Paul II the Great went on to his eternal reward after great physical suffering. He held the course set and with great wisdom and discernment did so even in the face of diabolical storms. He bravely took on fresh tasks even as she was buffeted so cruelly. He became the Pope of Christian Unity , drawing right minded Anglicans home to Christ's Church by innovative and generous administration, he strove mightily to bring home the over-weening arro…

AS HE SAID IT

Image
Here is the Latin text read by the Holy Father in the Consistory, announcing his intention to resign :

"
DECLARATIO
Fratres carissimi,

Quapropter bene c…

BEYOND ALL PRAISING

Image
It has always seemed very clear to me when a Hymn is not Catholic. The close integration of Catholic Doctrine and Culture with Catholic Teaching more broadly, will always produce a distinctive hymn.

That is not to say that some Protestant hymns are not good. There are some fine examples, but the majority suffer defects in either approach or doctrine implicit in the text, making them unacceptable for Catholic use. And that applies to a number of them that have found their way into ou Hymnals and Parish repertoires. I will not touch here on the abysmal " Worship Songs" many written by supposed Catholics that undermine much current liturgical worship.

An Anglican hymn I like, especially because it is married so happily to the melody " Thaxted" ( Holst's " The Planets"- Jupiter), is " O God beyond All Praising" written by the Late Rev. Michael Perry an Anglican parson who sadly died in 1996 at only 54 yrs from a Brain Tumour.

It is filled with bea…

LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING

Image
LOVE
Love, the song tells us: “Love, changes everything….” This was of course written about romantic love, with its myriad complications. But it is no less true of all other forms of love and there are numbers of them.
Where do we see Love? We can most readily recognise it by its concomitants:
Communication, Respect, Joy, Spontaneity, Loyalty and Attention.
Yes, even outside romantic Love, Love changes everything. It is important to test our relationships with those we love along these lines, to see how well we are playing our part.
But when we come to consider the ultimate non-romantic Love – our love for God Most High, our testing needs to be intense, for this is a matter of an entirely different order, and some of those concomitants even change their realities and their  names.
For Communication we have Prayer, for Respect we have Worship and for Attention we have Devotion.

Joy, Spontaneity and Loyalty, in regard to our love of God, seem, strangely to become, in many cases,  victims of the…

COMING UP ! THINGS TO NOTE AND THANKS

Image
Dear Readers and Visitors,

Some things to bring to your attention:

The GOOD - very soon we will record our 75,000th Visitor according to Clustermaps! This is very pleasing and I wish to thank all of you including our regular readers and visitors From Mountain View, California to Mentone, Victoria and from Berlin to Brisbane!

The BAD- even sooner Clustermaps will do a periodic " zeroing" of the global map in their Widget and we will lose all our red dots! Don't think anything dreadful has happened. The purpose is simply to regain a clear sense of what has happened recently.

The UGLY - some time ago following some Networked Blogs instructions for up-dating, we " lost" about 26 Followers from the Networked Blogs Widget. This does NOT mean we don't care about you. Ever since that date in November we have been following the issue with Networked Blogs, but apart from getting a reference number and the promise that " someone would be with us soon" NOTHING i…

LOVE IS EVER ATTENTIVE TO THE BELOVED

Image
LOVE
DOES NOT WITHDRAW ITSELF
BUT ALWAYS GIVES TO THE TRULY BELOVED

During the holy season of Lent, the subject of Love is continuously brought to our attention. God's Love for us, our love for Him, and our love for one another.
Many people scorn the "Social Media" e.g. Facebook some of the same folk also disdain the Internet!
But this morning I noticed a Post on Facebook by a young African Seminarian from Nigeria with whom I have occasional contact. It is beautiful and shines from the goodness of his soul and heart : "
I have so much Love in and around me!
I was fashioned out of LOVE
I breath in LOVE and breath out LOVE
I act in and out of LOVE
And I know my earthly mission will only come to an end as a fulfilment of this same LOVE
It is this same LOVE we celebrate today.... The LOVE upheld by the New Testament,
The Love that is boundless,
The LOVE that breaks no heart
The LOVE that is ever faithful...
The Love I have for U all."
